BA PROJECT
"Flawed"
For my BA graduate project, I explored themes of femininity, focusing specifically on what it feels like to be a woman in today’s society, drawing from personal experiences. To avoid misrepresenting or exploiting my participants, I asked each woman involved to paint a background for me to use within the final images. These painted backdrops serve as a personal expression from each individual, allowing them to have a hand in how they are visually represented.
Alongside the imagery, I incorporated text through poetry in a photo book, quotes taken from the conversations I had with these women during our time together. The interviews were informal and unstructured, creating a comfortable and open environment where they felt safe to share their stories and emotions without fear of judgment. I believe this approach brings a genuine layer of authenticity to the work, and I’m really pleased with the result of this project
